Opinion: We Need Trump’s Leadership Now More Than Ever

Our wonderful president Donald Trump has experienced and endured great adversity over the last four years, and through it all, he has protected and served our country well. In these uncertain times after Election Day, it’s important to stop and consider all of his contributions to our country.

Of great importance, President Trump has made tremendous economic progress for our country. Under his leadership, we are experiencing a strong economy and low unemployment numbers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the country’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.5% in fall 2019 — the lowest rate in about 50 years, since December 1969. His tax proposal would cut taxes by an additional $300 billion by the end of his second term, according to CBS news. Joe Biden, on the other hand, is going to destroy this legacy and the advances we’ve made with our economy. He wants to raise taxes, which is going to hurt a very large number of people. In a time when we are trying to recover from Covid-19, raising taxes could be devastating to our economy.

Additionally, Biden wants to restrict the freedoms of the 2nd amendment; the second amendment guarantees the lawful right of our citizens to own and possess firearms. To challenge the Bill of Rights, an essential piece of our country’s foundation, is wrong. In a time of civil unrest, as we’ve seen with violent riots and burning buildings, the right to protect ourselves should never be taken away. While many of these riots were occurring, Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, supported looters while American businesses burned. A safe country needs a leader who will protect our rights and our businesses.

There are several other concerning factors with regards to a Biden presidency. Many people question his respect and support of the military and law enforcement. While people are concerned that Biden wants to defund the police, Trump has the support of law enforcement. In fact, the Police Benevolent Association, the New York City’s largest police union, broke with a longstanding tradition of not endorsing presidential candidates and threw its support behind Trump in August (NBC NY News).

If you want to protect our economy, our safety, and our constitutional rights, then President Donald Trump has to win a second term. We need his leadership now more than ever.
