Five Books to Cozy Up with this Fall

Five+Books+to+Cozy+Up+with+this+Fall

Ahhhh fall. The season of changing leaves, spooky witches, cooler weather and pumpkin spice lattes. I love fall and everything that comes along with it–especially on cold, rainy days where all I wanna do is curl up under a blanket, in front of my heater, drink a PSL, and read a good book. Fall is the season of reading. So as you can guess there are many books released and suggested during the fall season. Here is my list of fall books you have to read before the first snowfall.

1: Belladonna, Adalyn Grace

Belladonna is a gothic murder mystery following along with Signa, an orphan girl who has a strange relationship with death. All she wants is to be a normal, noble girl, but when she is set to live with her elusive relatives the Hawthornes, she is shoved into solving a murder mystery with an unlikely ally: Death himself. This new take on a murder mystery is set in autumn and gives off very spooky vibes. It’s the perfect Halloween/ fall book. It’s around 416 pages with a sequel and a third book coming out in 2024. It’s a real pager turner and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. After reading it, I can see clearer the foreshadowing of who the murderer really is. But all in all, I loved this book. I got through it very quickly and can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in the series.

2: The Dead Romantics, Ashley Poston

The Dead Romantics is a killer take on your classic romance book (see what I did there). The story follows Florence Day, a romance ghostwriter who has the special ability to talk to ghosts. She is struggling to write romance and make a hard deadline set by her new editor, Benji Andor, especially when she has to fly back home to set and attend her father’s funeral. The weirdest guest shows up when Benji Andor appears in her hometown, not with a suitcase or a booked hotel room, but as a ghost. This spooky small town romance was a fun read. Very silly most of the time but there were some tear jerkers. This book falls closer to adult romance on the Y/A scale so any younger readers beware.

3: Heartstopper, Alice Oseman

Heartstopper is a little different then the rest of the books on this list as it is a graphic novel. The ongoing series follows 2 British boys, Nick and Charlie, as they figure out their lives in high school, after high school, and with each other. This is a great coming of age book that deals with a lot of important and heavy topics. Every character is just so loveable. The entire cast of characters are so diverse that everyone is represented and it’s easy to relate to the characters. It’s a fun easy read for anyone looking to cozy up in a blanket.

4: The School for Good and Evil, Soman Chainani

If you like Harry Potter and Disney, this would be a good series for you. The School for Good and Evil follows Sophie and Agatha, 2 “best friends” from the city of Gavaldon. Every 4 years, 2 kids are kidnapped and sent to the land of fairy tales. One kid is sent to the School for Good and the other the School for Evil. Agatha, the daughter of the town witch is expected to go to evil, and Sophie, the most princessy girl in town, has dreamed of going to the school for good since she was a child. So on the day of the kidnapping, the girls are taken away and get dropped into their new schools. Only there’s one problem: Agatha was dropped in the School for Good. And Sophie? She is in the place of her worst nightmares…or is it the place she belongs? I love this series. All the characters have such great personalities that it’s hard not to fall in love with the book. It’s a very interesting take of how fairy tales happen. It’s like a combination of Disney’s Descendants and Ever After High. 10/10 series.

5: The Upside of Falling, Alex Light

I wasn’t going to include this originally, but I finished it in 3 days and it was so good I had to share. This is a beginning of senior year, football and book lover, fake dating book. Becca loves to read about love but has always hated it in real life because of her parents. Brett lives the perfect life. Perfect parents, perfect grades, star player; the man had it all…aside from a girlfriend. So when he hears Becca telling her ex-friend about her secret boyfriend, he steps in to play the role. But as things turn out to not be so perfect, who is there to lean on besides from your fake lover? This book was so cute and such a quick read. It kept me interested, so much so that I read it within 3 days.

There you have it. 5 books to get your fall reading on. Now get reading!
