World Series Predictions

Joseph Romano, Staff Writer

Are you watching the World Series this year? This year’s World Series started on the 28th of October at 8:03 pm in Houston Texas. The playoffs were really intense since my favorite team, the Yankees, got to the American league champion division series but unfortunately lost to the better team, the Astros. In the National League, the Mets lost against the Padres which then kicked the Mets out of the running. The Phillies beat the Cardinals and then faced the Braves, and won that series. The last standing teams were the Yankees and the Astros in the American league and the Padres and the Phillies in the National League. Even though the Astros beat the Yankees, the Phillies finally moved onto the World Series.

This World Series is going to be very energetic and extremely entertaining. Even though I want the Phillies to win, the Astros have a lot of power and an amazing pitching rotation. The Phillies really showed up for the playoffs by playing their hearts out and the MVP Bryce Harper playing absolutely amazing in at bat. There will be outrageous energy at the playoffs since the competition is real between these two teams. The last time the Phillies have won the World Series was in 2008 and the last time the Astros won was in 2017 but ever since then, they have made it to the World Series or even the division series. It is clear that the Astros are a very dominant team, but the Phillies have been showing off against the Padres in their series. Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run in the last game of their series which evidently won them the game. Personally any team that is home always has the advantage so that’s why the Astros and Phillies both have two games at home and then rotate so it’s even.

The Astros have as starting pitchers: Justin Verlander, Framber Valdez, Lance McCullers Jr. and Cristian Javier and in the bullpen Ryan Pressly, Ryne Stanek, José Urquidy, Luis García, Rafael Montero, Héctor Neris, Will Smith, Bryan Abreu and Hunter Brown. As for the infield they have Yuli Gurriel, Trey Mancini, José Altuve, Alex Bregman and Jeremy Peña. Outfielders are Yordan Álvarez, Chas McCormick and Kyle Tucker. The Phillies pitchers consist of Jose Alverado, Aaron Nola, Noah Syndergaard and a bunch more. The infielders are Ryhs Hoskins, Bryson Stott, Edmundo Sosa, Jean Seguara, J.T Realmuto, Garret Stubs, Dalton Guthrie and Alec Bohm. The outfielders are Nick Castellanos, Brandon Marsh, Kyle Schwarber and Matt Vierling as well as the DH Bryce Harper.

I really hope this series is a blast for the fans but especially for the players. There is a huge chance the Astros win this but for this aspect of the game, I really hope the Phillies wind up taking the ring for this year. The Phillies haven’t gotten this far in some time so it would be a big come up for them to win and defeat the very powerful Houston Astros as well as stopping them from taking home another ring which would be their second within a 5 year span.
