This week’s Masked Singer episode was special because it was the Group C finals. This means that two singers out of Broccoli, Mushroom, and Jellyfish are going to the “Super Six ” aka the finalists from all groups. Let’s dive right in, people! There’s a lot to unpack.

Jellyfish was up first and she sang “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa. I knew in my heart she was going to the “Super Six” because of her amazing voice and confidence. At the end of her performance, I was left guessing as to her true identity. The only person I could come up with for this hidden celebrity was Iggy Azalea because the voices were remotely similar. I liked Nicole Scherzinger’s guess of Charlie XCX because the clues matched up and Nicole has an ear for these things, as she has proven to us the past two weeks. Our guest panelist this week was Jay Pharoah. He thought of the Kardashian family based on the clue of the word “Dream” being repeated and that is the name of Rob Kardashian’s daughter. Rob Kardashian’s sister, Kylie Jenner, also has a dad who played sports so Jay went with Kylie Jenner. After this explanation, Robin Thicke went along with this as well. Finally, our clue master Jenny McCarthy Walberg saw baby powder and a gold medal. She thought of a gymnast because of the chalk they use to maintain grip while on bars. She believes this singer is Mikayla Maroney.

The second singer of the night was Broccoli who sang “Old Time Rock And Roll” by Bob Seger. I have been getting sports player vibes from Broccoli since day one. After the performance, each singer got a “game-changing clue”, and Broccoli revealed that he was older than the microwave! After this, Robin thought of Paul Anka because he wrote “My Way” for Frank Sinatra. There was a clue about going to see the Big Cheese and Frank Sinatra used to be known as the Big Cheese. He also saw a moose telling him this person is Canadian, and Paul Anka is indeed Canadian. Ken Jeong (who we know has the worst track record on the show) went with a clue showing beatles, and said it was Ringo Star because of a Jason Voorhees mask and his son’s name is Jason. Broccoli also had a close friend speak for him and she said that he is the ringmaster (ring-ringo). Lastly, Jay Pharoah thought of Al Roker simply because of the voice. He didn’t have anything to say about the clues because he was stumped.

The third and final singer of the night was Mushroom. Mushroom totally killed her performance of “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry. Now Mushroom is a very interesting singer because for the first two weeks the panelists and I couldn’t tell if this was a man or a woman. This week had me guessing as well. I’m disappointed to say that I don’t have a guess for this one, but the panelists did because that’s what they get paid to do. Mushroom’s super clue was that they do not go by their real name (they changed or altered it someway). Robin Thicke stated that the voice sounded like Jayden Smith who recently changed his name to just “Jayden”. Jay also went with Jayden Smith because of clues about saving the environment, and Jayden Smith is a huge advocate for saving the Earth. I thought Ken’s guess actually wasn’t that bad (Yikes!). He said The Weekend because there was a red folder in the clue package and that’s the name of a song by The Weekend. The folder read “Top Secret” on it and “Secret” is also the name of a song by The Weekend. Stopping with “Sherlock Scherzy”, she picked up on clues hinting to someone from Chicago. There were also clues telling us this person was in a Broadway musical. Tay Diggs was in Chicago on Broadway, which is pretty on the nose.

Unfortunately, Broccoli was sent home tonight. The final guesses from the panel are as shown: Robin stayed with Paul Anka because of the Big Cheese clue. Jay changed his guess from Paul Anka to Paul Simon because he “wasn’t feeling the voice.” Nicole changed her guess due to clues about Las Vegas. She came up with a celebrity who is known as Mr.Vegas; Wayne Newton. And finally, Ken stayed with Ringo Star. Broccoli did indeed turn out to be Paul Anka. Next week will be the biggest show yet because finally, singers from different groups will combine and fight for their award: The Golden Mask.
