Easy Projects for Anyone

Emily Mclaughlin, Staff Writer

We are currently in the middle of a pandemic. As of today, COVID-19 has infected one million people, worldwide. It is very important to practice social distancing and stay home, to prevent the further spread of this virus. Therefore, that means we all will surely have a lot of free time in the upcoming weeks. One way I have been keeping myself busy is through easy art projects. I am by no means Picasso! I can barely draw a straight line to be completely honest. But, I have come across a few easy art projects that anyone can partake in during this time. If I can do it, you definitely can.

  1. Painting your bedroom door: If you’re anything like me, you have been spending a lot of time in your room. I have been trying to remain as productive as can be during this time. Adding your own personal touch to your bedroom door is the perfect way to do just that. I plan on doing this myself next week. It is super easy, and if you are not a great artist like me, you can order a stencil from Amazon, or even make one yourself! Once you have your stencil, paint away!
  2. Create a friendship scrapbook: I’m sure we are all missing our friends right now while practicing social distancing. I have started to make a scrapbook for one of my friends, whose birthday is approaching. It would be so nice to be able to show your friend just how much you missed them with a special scrapbook that you made for them! If you cannot get yourself a scrapbook, see if you have an unused photo album in your house. Then, print out your favorite pictures of you and your friend, and fill the book up with all of your good times! If you want to add an extra personal touch, use index cards to write messages to your friend, and add those to the book as well. It will turn out so cute and it will be a lot of fun! You will be able to look forward to showing your friend the special scrapbook, once this is all over.
  3. Stress-Relief coloring book: I love stress-relieving coloring books, and they are a great way to pass time. All you need is either markers, crayons, or colored pencils, and a book you can easily order from target or Amazon. If you cannot order one, you can print out some pages from google images, from the comfort of your own home.

If you decide to do one of these easy art projects, I’d love to see it! The Gull will showcase any DIY art project. Check back to see how my projects turn out! You can email me a picture at [email protected].
