On the days prior and on the days following Halloween, Mr. Caputo and this year’s Key Clubbers decided to sell candy in order to fundraise for UNICEF, a humanitarian aid organization that fights to save children’s’ lives, defend their rights and assists them in fulfilling their potential until they reach adolescence. During periods 4-7 in the rotunda and in front of the building after school, members of the Key Club sold pieces of candy for a dollar. Many staff members, students, and teachers were all generous enough to support and donate to this great cause! In total, $112 was made, and all of the proceeds went to the organization. The whole motive behind Key Club is to try to give back to not only the community but also worldwide to the best of their abilities. By encouraging leadership through serving others, this club is best fit for those who not only display integrity but also to those who value and understand the importance of community service.

Due to the pandemic, it is quite difficult to give back to the community. However, that did not stop the Key Club! At the beginning of the school year, Key Club decided to purchase school supplies and donate them to children in need in the elementary schools. They all met at a local Staples and bought an entire list of school supplies for two students at Rhame Avenue and Centre Avenue Elementary School. They’re planning on working around the pandemic once again and doing events in the future such as a food drive for Island Harvest, a coat drive, Toys for Tots, and more. Make sure to watch the announcements so you could donate too!

Key Club is a great club to join if you want to build your character, give back to the community, and gain experience with leadership!
