Now that fall has officially started cooling the temperatures and changing the colors of leaves, it’s just about time to start embracing the season into our weekend plans. I personally think that fall is the best time of year, especially when it comes to the overall vibes of the season. Who doesn’t love the feel of colorful leaves, a sweater, and a blanket? Here’s my top 5 activities that will match with the fall aesthetic and give you that fall Pinterest board feeling.
#1- Baking
While we might not all be pro bakers (I know I´m not) there are many recipes that are simple enough for everyone to do at home. I think baking in general is definitely a fall evening sort of activity, but there are also so many recipes that are more specifically suited for fall. It is also something that I would consider to be a productive hobby, since you have to eat. Why not make some nice Halloween themed cookies out of it? Although baked goods might not be for every night, you could always store your creations and save them for another time, or even give them away to friends and family. Overall, you´ll have fun, even if you burn a couple things in the process.
#2- Pumpkin Picking
During a cool fall weekend, an hour or so out in a pumpkin patch can be a nice fall themed break. There might not be much going on, but that can sometimes be just what you need. Although, if you are looking for something competitive, there are definitely some people out there who are committed to getting the best pumpkins before anyone else can. You can take pictures, and even buy some pumpkins. There’s so many fun things that you can do if you pick out some good pumpkins like making jack o lanterns or painting them. Then, you´ve had a nice day out and improved your fall décor all in one.
#3- Apple Picking
On a similar note, a nice drive up to an apple orchard can make a fun fall day too. In my experience, apple picking seems to draw out even more competitive people after the best apples, so you´ll want to try to get there soon before they’re all gone. I´d definitely consider apple picking a bit more interactive too, since you really have to climb through the trees to get to the ones nobody bothered to put in the work for before you. Depending on when you go, that could be harder than you´d think. Once you have your apples, there´s lots of things you can make out of them like apple cider, cookies, or even donuts. That is, if you can carry those huge bags of apples all the way back to your car.
#4- Visit A Haunted House
As we approach Halloween, there´s sort of a whole other section of fall that comes along with it. I´d say that currently, with Halloween in about a week, we´re definitely in spooky season. And what better way to celebrate that than a haunted house? Depending on your own tolerance to scary stuff, you might not be able to find one that truly scares you, but that doesn’t mean you won´t still have fun. Even if you´re just standing there laughing at all the workers’ attempts at being frightening, you´re still having a good time. If you’re really brave, you can even go to houses that people think are actually haunted. I think a haunted house is one of the token Halloween experiences, so you might as well give it a try.
#5- Hiking
While hiking is obviously an activity that you could do in any season, I think walking up through the woods is particularly beautiful in the fall. When all the leaves are colorful and drifting through the wind, you don’t even really need to be on a high mountaintop to get that gorgeous view. You might even find a big pile of leaves somewhere along your journey to jump into like a kid. A hike is also really good exercise that works well in the cool fall temperatures, since you won’t get too hot or too cold. Fall´s just the best hiking season overall, so if you haven’t hiked before, now’s the perfect time to start.
