Senior Spotlight: Clare Acuti

Senior Spotlight: Clare Acuti

Kirsten Carman, President

Meet Clare Acuti: Vice President of The Gull and Valedictorian of the Class of 2023.

Clare has gone above and beyond during her time at ERHS, has gotten involved in so many different things, and has befriended so many classmates while simultaneously becoming a role model for the underclassmen. Along with the Gull, Clare is the VP of Student Council, a member of Tri-M, and co-president of NHS. She has also been involved in the school musical productions since fourth grade, and just concluded her final show as Peter Pan. In addition, for the last four years, Clare has spent a lot of time in Mr. Palermo’s Science Research class studying neuroscience and Dementia and has had so many great experiences furthering her knowledge of a topic that is extremely important to her. She continues to flourish both academically and socially during her time at ERHS and we are eager to see all that she will accomplish in the future.

Get to know more about Clare! Here are some of her responses to questions about her high school career and post-graduation plans:

What has been your favorite class?

“Science Research – junior year.”

What are your plans following high school?

“I’m not committed yet but I know that I want to major in Neuroscience. I’m planning on continuing my current dementia research and possibly going to work on getting my doctorate.”

What is something you will truly miss about ERHS after you graduate?

Being able to see my sister every day while I’m walking through the halls and feeling like I’m never alone (because there is always at least one friendly face in the halls).”

Funniest memory throughout ALL of high school that you can think of:

“Mr. Baco setting off the fire alarm seconds after he started bragging about the fact that he had never and WILL never set off the fire alarm.”

If you could give one piece of advice to the underclassmen, what would it be?

“People will tell you that high school is a stepping stone that leads you to college or the rest of your life. While that is true,  it is important that you also remember that high school is a time in your life you should be stopping to enjoy. You will meet great people and make memories that will last a lifetime, so enjoy it because it will be gone before you know it.”

Favorite memory with a teacher:

“The curtains closing after our senior entrance and celebrating our great performance with Gerken and Tess.”

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

“I was able to achieve my goal of becoming valedictorian and starring in an ERHS musical. But, I would say I’m most proud of the work I have done in science research and I am glad I pushed myself to do challenging projects and work with mentors even when I felt out of my comfort zone.”

Additional Remarks:

“You rock Kirsten.”
