Dune – A Movie Review

Johnna Rodriguez, Staff Writer

Dune… what can be said about that movie? First, let me provide a backstory on what the movie is about. It take place on a desert where some people have powers to make others do anything when they simply speak. There are spaceships and a desert worm that can kill you. There are two different groups that are against each other. The movie stars Timothee Chalamet and two seconds of Zendaya. The main character has to explore this dangerous planet for his family’s future.
Even though this movie came out a year ago, a movie review is needed. I have seen this movie in movie theaters when it came out and I regret it. The trailer looks so much better
than the actual movie. The cuts are terrible nothing flows together. Each scene jumps around to the point of confusion. You have to pay attention to every single detail in order to truly understand the plot.
I watched it with a couple friends and two others agreed with me. It just wasn’t worth it. The movie pitch is good, but that first movie had so much potential. It also got very boring at some parts where it felt like I was watching it for over 40 hours. At many parts, I just wanted to abandoned the movie because I couldn’t stand it anymore. I felt like the movie was never going to end.
Without Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, there wouldn’t have been that many people seeing the movie.
When I first watched the trailer, I thought Zendaya was going to have more parts then what she actually had. Everyone was saying wait for the second movie, but why did they falsely advertise? You only saw her in the main characters head and for about two seconds at the end, which made it very deceiving. Also, certain people had powers, while others did not. That wasn’t very
clear and certain parts of the movie were never explained.
I would never recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in the first or second. I wouldn’t even give a second chance with this movie. Even the production  of the film fell flat. End of the story – Don’t watch this movie!
