“Personal Experience with the Covid-19 Vaccine”
May 24, 2021
We all know about the COVID-19 Vaccine. Love it or hate it, it has been deemed to be pretty useful especially with Pfizer opening up ages 12+ to get the vaccine. Everyone has their own personal experience with the vaccine, which turns out to be different every time, including the process of getting it.
For me personally, getting the appointment was a lot easier than expected, and getting to the location was easy as well. I went to a Northwell Health care center that was administering the vaccine like MAD–it was like factory assembly line. When I made my appointment there were tons of appointments already taken, and then I finally snagged one. After two hours of me making my appointment, six thousands of those slots available were gone.
Upon arrival at the facility it was an easy process of the typical “What’s your name? When’s your birthday? Your ID?” and then finally receiving your card. From there you go to a little section where a nurse is and she repeats the questions, takes your empty card and writes the proper information, then administers the vaccine. Of course they will give you your card back but from there I went to go sit somewhere else and wait 15 minutes, or 30 if you have any underlying conditions that may make you wait those 30.
After my first injection I really had no side effects day of and even the day after. The day after I only had a really sore arm from where the injection site was, which was expected. The ice pack was my best friend that day.
By the time 2 weeks were up, as expected, I had to get my second injection. It included the same procedure as first injection and same experience with the day of. I believe me getting my second dose later in the afternoon helped with the same day symptoms, most often after 8 hours of your injection you start to feel side effects. Since I got both appointments late in the afternoon I would’ve been sleeping by those 8 hours. But the following day of my second injection, I had the same amount of arm soreness but with the extra symptoms of fatigue, brain fog and slight body ache. The fatigue lasted two days but was worse the day after. The only thing coffee did was lift the brain fog. Boy, was I tired that day. On occasion I refuse to take naps. I don’t know why, I just don’t like them. The day after my shot I took 3 naps that day.
Overall my experience was great minus the symptoms…
