Looking Forward to Summer 2021!

Ever since the horrible global pandemic has begun, life has not been the same. Summer 2020 was definitely not fun at all since people were so scared to go out and get sick. Gladly, vaccines have been approved and the roll out has begun. No one can correctly predict how many vaccines will be given out by June. However, many US states, like Ohio, are planning to have a pretty normal summer. They are also planning to keep the masks and social distancing guidelines in place. Camps are planning to open up allowing kids to do safer activities like golfing and swimming.

There is still a lot to do this summer, but officials say that there is a lot people should try and avoid. Festivals are a big ‘No’ because people are usually shoulder to shoulder and it is very hard to stay socially distanced. Also, cookouts and parties with many people are something people are worrying about. These big activities that include many people in one small area at a time is a huge risk and may prevent improving the status of the virus by next Spring.

Most people, especially teenagers, are waiting to have the summer of their lives and to not care about the virus at all. But these irresponsible behaviors can lead to next school year being the same as this current school year. Many people are having doubts as to if this virus will ever be over, even with vaccines.

Although people have mixed opinions on how this summer will turn out, many are planning to travel and carry on with their lives and normal summer activities. Many borders are closed, but people predict they will be open by summer, meaning more travel. This also means people will be staying at hotels with pools and beaches. The big question is, will masks be mandatory while being out in places like this? Also, can we truly trust these vaccines by this summer? Well, only time will tell but we can hope for a better summer and for everyone to be safe.
