Keeping Yourself Busy During Winter Break

Hailey Velasquez, Staff Writer

Winter break is here!! The long-awaited time off from school is finally here. While it is nice to sleep all day, it is still good to stay productive during your time away from school. Below I am going to list some ways that you can stay occupied and productive while having fun during the winter break.

  1. The first thing you can do to keep yourself occupied is to read a book. As this may seem like a forbidden area to many people, reading a book is a great way to pass the time while soaking up a good story. This is also a great way to exercise your mind and to give your eyes a break from the computer and phone screens.
  2. The second thing you can do is play outside. There is still plenty of snow left outside for you to build a snowman, igloo, go sledding, or even have a snowball fight with your friends and family. It is a great way to enjoy some fresh air and the remaining snow left on the ground.
  3. The third thing you can do is cook or bake. Cooking and baking is an entertaining way to learn some new skills and treat yourself in the process. You can cook with your family and even have a fun cookoff to see who is the best family cook. It’ll be a friendly competition that can test your skills.
  4. The fourth thing you can do is watch a movie with your family. While it is very nice to watch your shows on your own device, it’ll be a different experience watching with your family. Watching a family movie is a great way to bond with your family and share laughter and tears.
  5. The fifth thing you can do is celebrate Valentine’s Day!  On this coming Sunday, Valentine’s Day will be celebrated. As overrated as it is, it can still be fun to get all that chocolate and cheesy Valentine’s Day stuffed animals and cards. Even if you don’t have a special someone, you can still celebrate with your friends and family. You can make Valentine’s Day cupcakes, watch romantic movies, and you can even buy yourself some of your favorite chocolate!
  6. The sixth thing you can do over the break is to get some exercise.  Getting exercise over the break will keep your body active and healthy. You can ride your bike, go on a run, or even go to the park.  Any type of physical activity will be very beneficial. It doesn’t even have to be intense physical activity. Some simple yoga can do the trick. If you exercise over the break, your body and mind will thank you.

Overall, there are many different ways you can keep yourself occupied during the break. You don’t have to be destroyed by your own boredom. So, enjoy your break, and don’t forget to relax and take a mental and physical break. You deserve it!
