“An Ode to Valentine’s Day”

Isabella DeCunzo, Staff Writer

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

Today I’m alone,

And so are you.

And if you are not

Alone on this day,

You’ll receive pointless gifts

With cute things they’ll say.

In most movies,

Relationships start with a “sup”

And Valentine’s Day

Causes them to break up.

But if you’re like me,

You’ll have nothing to fear–

Cause you’ll be alone

In your bed room in tears.

Maybe Brad didn’t give you flowers,

Or Steve didn’t get you a fancy locket.

Tomorrow everything will be ok

Cause you’ll have discounted Valentine’s Day chocolate.

But if it is not,

And you have no bit of glee,

Just remember that

There’s other fish in the sea.

So I say to you now,

Whether together or alone,

Happy Valentine’s Day

From a poem you read through your phone.
