*Spoiler Warning* The following article has information related to the first to episodes of the cartoon.

Can you ever go wrong with a cartoon meant for children? “Gravity Falls”, “Phineas and Ferb”, “Adventure Time”, and so many others are fun to watch at any age. But I’m here to tell you about a Netflix Original series rebooted from the 80s that is one of the best cartoons meant for children and teenagers: “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power”.

“She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” is a reboot of the 1985 original cartoon. This series was created to show off the fictional universe of Masters of the Universe but quickly grew in popularity and ran for 2 seasons with 93 episodes in total. In 2018, it was rebooted on Netflix, and since then, 5 seasons have been produced as well as a movie coming in the future. I just started watching it and after 2 episodes I am already hooked.

In episode 1, we open with Adora and her squad working on a simulation training session against the rebellion. Adora beats the simulation in record time and moves from cadet to Force Captain. Adora and her best friend Catra go on a joy ride into the whispering woods and crash into a tree. Adora gets these strange visions of a magical sword before Catra awakes her and takes her home. She can’t get the sword out of her head. She decided to go back out into the woods on her own to find the sword. Meanwhile in a nearby kingdom, Princesses Glimmer has just returned from an attack against the Horde. Her mother grounds her for not following orders and she is sent to her room. Glimmer and her best friend Bow find out that there is a magical sword lost in the whispering woods and decide to search for it in hopes  that it will help them win the war. Adora finds the sword at the same time Glimmer and Bow find it. They battle and Glimmer and Bow capture Adora. They head back to their kingdom when they come across this giant bug monster. Bow and Glimmer can’t defend themselves and drop the sword. Adora picks it up and says “For the honor of Grayskull”. She is transformed into this magical princess named She-Ra and tames the beast. At the end of the episode the Shadow Weaver interrogates Catra and tries to find out where she went. She ends the episode telling Catra to find Adora or Adora’s punishment will be her punishment.

In episode 2, Bow and Glimmer have no clue how Adora turned into She-Ra. They take the sword away from her and the bug beast wakes up and starts attacking them again. They’re running through the woods when they come across a magic temple. There is an ancient inscription that only Adora can read. It tells the story of She-Ra and how she will come in a time of need to save everyone. They make their way out of the woods and find a town. Adora discovers what it’s like to have fun and to be happy while hanging out with Bow and Glimmer. Shadow Weaver has been tracking her and sends Catra and an army to bring her home. The Horde attacks the village but Adora stops a tank so that she can talk to them. Catra appears out of the tank and tries to convince her to come home. Adora refuses and all the soldiers surround her. She turns into She-Ra and beats everyone. Glimmer and Bow officially become her friends and take her back to Glimmer’s home. Catra returns empty handed and Shadow Weaver takes her to Hordax so he could punish her. Instead he promotes her to Force Captain in Adora’s place.

I started watching the show whenever I have time. I have a new obsession! Move out of the way TikTok and all other media. Netflix is coming after you with the Sword of She-Ra and is not afraid to swing. In other words, this show is amazing! It has great characters and is full of action. It has an interesting plot and diversity of main characters which is a great example for children. If you’re ever bored scrolling around Netflix like I was, then give it a chance! I can’t wait to watch more episodes!
