Snow

Ava LaVolpe, Staff Writer

You had never seen snow,

It had always been a dream unheard of,

Something you read in storybooks,

A tale that was casted away as something magical.

You had never seen snow,

Never noticed the way it draped the world in a blanket,

How it wraps the ground underneath into one,

A shape unknown but not forgotten.

You had never seen snowflakes,

Never seen the way they float in the sky,

The way they turn and gleam,

Little fairies dancing as they fly .

You had never seen it all thaw,

Never watched snowmen collapse and fall,

Never noticed the ocean waves become full once more.

For when the burning sun comes out again,

The rays of light shining through,

Parting clouds and wind alike,

Time would still stand in place.

A time of love and warmth,

A time of scarfs and boots,

A time of hugs and whispers.

A time of peace and ease.

But how could you know such things?

When you still had never seen snow.
