We sat down with the East Rockaway Athletic Director, Mr. Vulpis, to discuss the upcoming Unified Basketball League.  Mr. Vulpis explained that the league was put together to make sure that all students have an opportunity to play sports.  The league is made up of all grades of high school students.  Currently, there are 6 teams in the league.  East Rockaway High School will be playing Lawrence, Whitman, Long Beach and Floral Park High Schools.

Mr. Vulpis explained that the spring season is the perfect time to set up a new basketball league as there is plenty of gym space available, which often times can be a challenge. The first practice was held on April 4th held by our coaches Mr. Collins and Mrs. Poland.  Their next practice will be on Wednesday, April 6th 3:00 pm.   The first  game will be a home game on Tuesday, May 3rd in the big gym.   Be sure to check them out!
